Guide for resellers
Amazon returns pallet with an item list or blind: which to choose
An Amazon returns pallet can be bought in two ways: knowing what is on it or not knowing. We explain the difference and why, if you are going to resell, the item list is almost always worth it.
What is a pallet with an item list
A pallet of Amazon returns with an item list comes with a list of everything on it: every product, its Amazon reference and its reference price. You know what you are buying before you pay, and you can decide whether it suits what you sell.
What is a blind pallet
A blind pallet is sold by category or by weight, without saying exactly what is on it. It usually costs a little less, but it is a gamble: you might get something that sells really well… or a pile of things you will not be able to shift. It is the same logic as mystery boxes, on a bigger scale.
The differences at a glance
| With an item list | Blind | |
|---|---|---|
| You know what you are buying | Yes, item by item | No |
| You can do the maths beforehand | Yes | Only by eye |
| Risk | Low | High |
| Price | Slightly more | Slightly less |
| Who it is for | Regular resellers | Anyone wanting to try it out on a small budget |
When each one makes sense
- With an item list, if you resell regularly, if you specialise in a category (motoring, home, kids…) or if you need to know how much you are investing and in what. It is how a business buys.
- Blind, if you treat it as an experiment and are prepared for part of the contents to be of no use to you. To try it out with little money, a box with an item list is better: see your first lot.
One piece of advice either way: pallets with lots of TVs or very fragile products need more care, because transport and the return itself take a heavier toll on them.
At Reusalia, every lot comes with an item list
Every item that comes into our warehouse is logged one by one, so all our lots, boxes and pallets alike, come with their item list: the product, its Amazon reference (ASIN), its price there and which box it is in. You can see it on the website or download it as Excel, CSV or PDF before buying. If you have never read one, we explain it in how to read a lot's item list.
